Rankin has shot everyone, "from royalty to refugees" to quote his website biography, there's no question as to why I've picked him this week. He's amazing and I hope to use his work to inspire some of my portraiture in the future but for now I'll just sit here and stare at his fascinating photographs. I've selected just a few of my favourites featuring the lovely faces of the likes of Sky Ferreira and Carey Mulligan.

Sunday baking at it's best. All pictures my own, so today I've been for a mooch around the charity shops and baked some cupcakes, perfect. If you ever fancy making some cupcakes.. then all you need is 4oz margarine, sugar and self-raising flour, 2 eggs. Then all you do is mix the sugar and margarine then beat 2 eggs in adding flour as you go... simple really. If you look at that last picture and think I didn't eat it your fooling yourselves, cake mix is the best bit!
Once the cupcakes were done I decorated them with buttercream and nutella buttercream, heaven.
The buttercream for this part is literally just marge and icing sugar, the nutella ones are simply that and nutella. I had my iPod playing whilst I made these so the playlist for this post would be:
The Doors- End of the Night
Gotye - In Your Light
The Smiths - This Charming Man
Lana Del Rey - Videogames
Bon Iver - The Wolves (Act I & II)

Top - Topshop Skirt- Primark Pearls -Vintage.
You only have to live on Planet Earth to realise that pastels are everywhere for Spring, these are just a few of my favourite takes on the trend. I also took a stab at creating a look for myself with pastels and I was so out of my comfort zone... I look girly! It's a far cry from my band tee outfits but that's what fashion is about, adapting for seasons and experimenting with your look.
Pastels make me think of 50's diner's and ice cream sundaes, frothy milkshakes and macaroons. Feast your eyes...

I had plans to do an outfit post today but Kurt's birthday is more important than my wardrobe.
Today my post is dedicated to Kurt Cobain and all that was of him. February 20th 1967, this beautifully troubled man was born and he would be 45 today. Instead he has remained forever young, I like to think he's up there, with all the other 27 Club-ers having a fabulous birthday free of what it was that troubled him down here. Yes, the World lost true talent but lets use today to celebrate him and the damn fucking good music he made with Nirvana.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KURT <3

Seeing as though this is my first post, ever I'm going to use it as an opportunity to introduce myself. So, er, I'm Kate, I'm perfectly happy in my own company and these are the things that would go in my hypothetical Heart Shaped Box..
I chose these 5 things because I feel they portray me most accurately, they could be explained but it would bore you senseless. It goes without saying that I also love my family to pieces and my pets. Most other kids would add 'friends' to that list but I don't have many (ha ha) and the ones I do have are so close I consider them family. That is because I'm so anti-social and painfully awkward, I'm nothing special so not many people can be arsed with the effort it takes to get me to let you in. Fair enough, I know who actually cares about me.
One last thing.. I don't believe in love, I think it's a fantasy. Yes, I've seen it between my parents and grandparents but I've never felt it myself. I've had a few boyfriends who've said they love me and I've felt loved just not love for them in return so I've never said it to any of them. Why should I if I don't mean it? I don't know.. if you've seen (500)days of summer or No Strings Attached then I'm just like Summer and Emma. I can look after myself I don't need a knight.
6.I almost didn't mention my ma-hoo-sive obsession with this beautiful man, Ryan Gosling. He is as close to perfect as anyone could get.
