This outfit post is inspired by The Notebook, set in the 40s this moving film encapsulates the beauty of fashion in this period. With her elegant dresses just scraping the knee, outfits worn by Allie (Rachel McAdams) in particular  are stunning examples of silhouettes, shapes and prints from this era. Allie's style is epitomised by classy dresses, cute playsuits and quirky high waist shorts paired with the loveliest bralette tops. I just absolutely love this film and the thought that went into the costume design. Let's not forget Mr Gosling...

I did my hair in victory rolls inspired by Allie in The Notebook. I love fashion from the 40's, so much so that if I had the time and energy I would dress like that everyday. I think once I'm older and more comfortable with my personal style this will happen naturally. Right now I'm just young and experimental trying different trends and looks to find something that suits me. The reason I love the 40's so much is because the ladies usually dressed so classy and  elegantly, with pretty tea dresses, lace and pearls, prim hairstyles, polka dots... I could go on.

The main reason behind my making this post is the shoes, those wonderful shoes. They reminded me of the Charlotte Olympia 'kitty flats' that I spent so much time lusting over before it finally sunk in that I would probably see a Unicorn before I could afford them. Then these beauties came along in all their look-a-like glory and how do you say no? You don't. I'll admit that there is obvious differences such as threads, ear position and the fact these don't have the tiny heel, however they are still the cutest shoes I will probably ever own. I'm always wanderlusting but recently I've had the strongest desire ever to return to Paris. It's possible to get there by train so I'm determined to save enough for the tickets and just go. I'd spend my time wisely, making sure to visit Disneyland for the 7th(?) time, but it wouldn't all be roller-coasters and candyfloss. It's customary to sit in a coffee shop, drinking latte's, reading books and eyeing up the French talent (just me?) Maybe a beautiful guy would be intrigued by the book I'm reading, he'd ask me about it and we'd bond over a mutual hate for a fictional character. WHO AM I KIDDING?! My camera would be my only companion, I would make it my goal to take as many pictures of as many things as I could in whatever time I had there. Paris is a magical city.

I'm not bothered what you say, or how you dress.

It's been a while since the last time I posted, and when I say 'while' I realise that's a massive understatement, so I apologise. I have been mad busy with Summer exams followed by holidaying in Turkey, then Cornwall and Devon which were both fabulous holidays I've had such a fun Summer! I also have Leeds (as in the Festival) in 6 days, sooo excited for that :-) 

I bought this floaty, floral dress in Topshop today. It was reduced from £65 to £15 so I pounced on it, it's so cute. I feel obliged to point out the little bow detail on the back, as I think it's a lovely little touch. I have had a good day in terms of bargains as I found another dress in Miss Selfridge reduced from £50 to £18. Overall the two dresses should have set me back £115 and I only parted with £35 in the end, marvellous! The shoes I'm wearing have become known as my 'Birthday Shoes' as I turn 18 in 3 weeks and these babies have been reserved for my night out at the Hilton in Deansgate, Manchester. I still can't resist prancing around the house in them though.. These were also a bargain, originally I saw them at their full price of £68 and lusted after them for weeks and then they got reduced to £30 so I couldn't really say no, could I? This outfit would have cost £133 and I paid £45, you can't beat that for bargain busting!

Lately I've been obsessing over California and the laid-back surfer/boho chic style of Gillian Zinser, I'll admit it has been triggered by the religious viewing of 90210 on E4. I've watched 90210 from the very beginning and since Ivy came into the show I've pretty much wanted to be her. However it's only recently that I've used Ivy's style to influence my own, I wasn't sure I'd pulled it off until my sister said to me "You look like Ivy from 90210." That's odd as she never pays me compliments...
